There are three general types of steel monopole structures, these consist of tapered structures, cigar-shaped structures, and tubular structures.

These structures have many advantages over most lattice structures, namely:

• Design – The design and drawings are significantly easier and require less time. They are generally considered the most aesthetically pleasing structure.
• Manufacturing – There is a smaller quantity of different sections/parts. Less fabrication time required. Less time required for delivery.
• Erection – Smaller, simple foundation. Lower erection costs (up to 20 structures can be erected per day).
• Environmental – Smallest footprint of all tower types. Smaller footprint advantages, particularly in any areas with a denser population.
